Well, Hello there! Happy Tuesday! Apologies for not posting sooner. Between prep/cooking for the week ahead, spending time with my hubby, mom and dog and studying for my Holistic Weigh Loss course, watching the Oscars and watching a new episode of The Voice….two days off just flies by!

So today is day #10 of my 28-day Total Body Clean-Up! Yeeeeehawwww! I had a couple of snafus so far, but got right back on track. As a treat for finishing my first module of the course 2 days ahead of time, and getting a perfect score on the first test, I had a wee tipple the other night. It was a conscious decision albeit I wish I could have stayed the course completely clean for the entire time. Moving on, the other hiccup was drinking a fresh pressed vegetable/fruit juice. This doesn’t sound like an error, after all juice is healthy right? Well though this one had no added sugars, nothing but pressed organic fruit and veggies, the challenge says no sugary beverages! This drink had quite a lot of natural sugar! I didn’t even think about it at the time. Anyways, I’m back on track. As a side note, I know there are many that think that “juicing” is so great. It isn’t really. When you break down fruits and vegetables like that, you are eliminating all that lovely fibre that they have. Your body needs fibre to regulate digestion. Fibre is also what slows down sugar from getting to your liver too quickly. Without fibre, the sugars go straight to your liver and if overworking the liver, it stores sugar as fat. So be aware! Best to EAT your fruits and veggies!

I am feeling really good though. My belly feels and looks less bloated, I have more energy, less forgetful and don’t get as quickly agitated. I’ve lost a couple of pounds on the scale too. This 2nd week of the challenge is easy! Instead of taking away (although still no sugary beverages), I need to add a smoothie or 2 portions of raw veggies daily. Except for the weekends, I start off every morning with a healthy smoothie. I have also prepared yummy salads for my lunches – adding some lentils for protein/fibre, olive oil for healthy fat, sheep milk feta for healthy fat and protein and tomatoes for vitamin C.

Until my next update, be well, think positive and live holistically minded!
